Life With Us:
The FaPMI Program was launched by the Department of Health (DHHS) following increased recognition of the impact of mental illness on parents and the consequences of this for their families, particularly dependent children.
The overall aim of the state-wide program is to reduce the impact of parental mental illness on all family members through timely, coordinated, preventative and supportive action.
This will be done through workforce training and resource development, policy and procedure development, group program development, implementation and evaluation, community education and strengthening partnerships between the sectors.
Your new role:
  • Provide specialist primary and secondary consultation to MWAMHS clinicians and treating teams about working with families where a parent has a mental illness
  • Deliver targeted training and education to the service and external stakeholders
  • Build strong networks with key external stakeholders
  • Collaborate in new initiatives across MWAMHS, Western Health and with external stakeholders
About you:
  • Passionate about working with families and parents who have a mental illness
  • Knowledge and skills in both mental health and understanding child development
  • Training and experience delivering family interventions
  • Ability to build strong relationships and network with external agencies
  • Ability to work across MWAMHS and engage different teams
